Meet my Crabs

Amy

August 7th, 2012 - August 31st, 2012

Amy when I bought her :)
Amy is a sweetheart, to say the least. She's very shy and causes no trouble, but that often makes her the target for getting run over her shoved off the log. But that doesn't mean she doesn't speak up for herself! I've heard her chirping at Bazooka before because she was mad at him. It was super cute!
When placed on my hand, Amy is a little tentative to come out of her shell at first. Slowly, she emerges and twiddles her antenna, smelling me. When she finds she's in my hands, she'll start to walk around and explore.
Amy is simply my favorite crab, but that doesn't mean I don't love the other two. I do! It's just that Amy is the baby of the three, and thus she tends to be the object of my worries and concerns, though I really have nothing to be concerned about.

Batman

Batman is a cute little crab. He can be reserved at times, but he has a feisty personality. His favorite past time include climbing the log and digging in the sand. He is only a tad bit bigger than Amy, and naturally she and him tend to hang out together.
When placed on my hand, he immediately comes out of his shell and tries to run off. For this reason I almost never hold him for longer than just a couple of seconds.
Batman is such a sweet crab, and he is usually sitting alone, whether its on top of the log or in a corner of the cage. His detachment from the other crabs is what dubbed him his name (and his black shell). His need for solitude makes him a special little crab to me, and he'll always hold a place in my heart.

Bazooka

Bazooka is my big boy. I loved him from the moment I picked him up in the pet store. I was distinguishing between the PPs and the Ecuadorian crabs, and when I put him in the Eccie pile, he immediately sprinted to the other corner of the cage. I knew instantly that he would be mine.
When I picked Bazooka up, he never goes in his shell. He flails his legs and often times grabs my with one (and it hurts!). I wasn't even able to get him in his shell when I was trying to measure their shell size. Part of it might have been that his shell was way too small for him, and that he couldn't withdraw even if he wanted to. Now he has a much bigger shell and he's super happy! He's my "Bubba Crab" and my crab trio would never be complete without him.
